No Regrets

I held your hand as you went on your way,
He hugged your spirit as you struggled to rise
You took so much with you…or so it seems
A strange fullness in halls of empty silence…..

We find you everywhere….and nowhere…both at the same time
You grow the garden and water the cheeks
A rock, a stone, a tribute – such a mystery….
How such personality can fade in the dawn

What did you see as you stared out over the lakes?
Did the sun hurt your eyes, or the blue make you cry?
What did you see in the glow of the fire (with tea trembling in hand)?
Was the heat burning? Was your heart yearning?

Your passage seemed a mystery of pain and peace,
Laughter and comfort, frustration with feistiness
Denial and acceptance, caught by surprise…
No regret? – What do we know?

The Broadway Beauty Queen in bedroom attire
With tiara too tight, yet company warm
Fanned with a frond and a foot- rub-affair
An off-shoulder shot for the camera’s eye!

How did the LOVE carry you there –
To that place tucked away in the biggest of hearts?
Yet seeming too small to hold it all…
The burst does not come; it just remains at the brink

Ruby roses bloom in earth and ash
But fall feels forever for those who remain…
Our season of tears is yours of Joy
The “whole world of things that we cannot know” is yours to enjoy…

with no regret!

– let us not forget!
